Since returning to the White House in 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump has pursued a number of construction and renovation projects around Washington, D.C. They have ranged from a new White House ballroom and changes to the Rose Garden to work on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool , fountains and historic landscapes as well as other public spaces around the capital. Some of the projects have also drawn controversy over their cost and impact on historic sites. The White House's East Wing was demolished to make way for the planned ballroom, while the reflecting pool underwent a renovation that included repairs and a new lining. On Aug. 7, 2026, a federal appeals court upheld an injunction that would block above-ground ballroom construction during the lawsuit and until Congress approves the project. However, the court put its ruling on hold for 14 days to give the Trump administration time to seek Supreme Court review.
